I can’t believe it myself, but I’ve changed jobs! I loved my old team, but was offered an exciting new opportunity in a new location and a promotion to boot, so I’ve made the plunge and relocated! I’d like to think this brings me a small step closer to some of my longer-term goals. So, while moving after years in the one house is super stressful, it’s also a chance for renewal, refocus and a revamp!
I’m busy unpacking right now, and also taking the chance to declutter and reset before a new calendar year kicks off. I have a new bedroom, and this one is rather small compared to my last. So, I’m downsizing my bed, meaning a chance to find new bed linen to love, a new (but old) bed frame, and some decor to match the vibe.
I decided my welcome gift for myself in this new city is a zoo membership (cheap for locals) and a season pass to the pool, which runs from Spring until late Autumn next year – ideal for this hot climate, and a great way to add some activity in for my health goals.
Moving interstate is expensive, and there were lots of extra costs I didn’t plan for – paying someone to take things to the tip as I ran out of time to, trying to work full time and move house, for example. BUT I’m slowly getting settled, and getting my bedroom set up how I like it will be a key achievement for me – there’s a lot going on, so it’s a slow process, as I fit errands in between working full time in my new role, unpacking, and keeping my furred and feathered family members happy in this new home.
I really like the idea of a cottage/vintage style bedroom – soft, light colours, plenty of indoor plants, hidden storage to reduce visual clutter. Fortunately, a fair chunk of my things fit this vibe already, so I don’t have to wipe the slate clean and start completely fresh. I can have fun, instead, in finding new additions that enrich my space.
What do you do when you’re looking for your new bedroom vibe? Any tips or must-haves?
